Remember IM - Intelligent Memory

Barry Gordon, in his book Intelligent Memory, advocates that we try to use our minds more effectively by focusing on connecting ideas rather than regretting our forgetful ways. However poor our ordinary memory, we do have an 'extraordinary amount' of intelligent memory, a subconscious part of the brain.

There are ways of training the mind to use this asset. Form a chain of ideas in order to jog the element that cannot be recalled. Turn things upside down by deliberately visualising the opposite, rearranging the details. Free the mind by considering something else. Just start thinking - about anything so that apparently irrelevant ideas can become connected and new concepts created.
